About Schinderwies
There was an old farmhouse in the middle of nowhere / Regensburg / southern Germany, where traveling folk musician Archie Müller moved during a break between a series of journeys to the US. In the old farmhouse, called schinderwies, he found the perfect setting for founding his own small home recording label: Schinderwies Productions. Starting out with self-produced tapes of experimental lo-fi electronic sound sketches and acoustic dylanesque folksongs, Müller went on to release some of his friends' albums and discovered unexpected talents very close to him. Besides the growing label, Müller organized concerts in the Regenburg record store "Swampland", which served as a playground for new talents.

[Labelporträt von Katharina Klofat - dieoberpfalz.de - Juni 2003]
After several trips to the US, Archie Müller moves to a farm in a rural community north of Regensburg, Germany in 1997. He starts producing a series of 4-track tapes, selling them for fun under the name "Schinderwies Productions". Next, he launches a website to distribute his tapes. Now his friends, who are musicians, ask him to publish their self-produced CD-R's on his website. During 2001 the groups, "Auf dem Weg ins Kaufhaus erledigte ich noch einen kleinen Hauskauf", "Herztechnik", "Mikrofisch", "Plus Ganzwind" and "Tripophon" form the Schinderwies family. Oscillating between digital sounds and guitars, they all share a common love for both - guitars AND electronics.
Archie Müller's initiative leads to outside contacts with other musicians, other labels and distribution companies. A network evolves including contacts to media and booking of live shows. In September 2002, Schinderwies releases their first official CD, Plus Ganzwind, with 6 beautiful Indie/Post Rock guitar instrumentals. Spring 2003 sees 2 vinyl LP's: Tripophon's Pop-Country-Rock masterpiece "The Sheriffs Lady Was A Polka" and Mikrofisch's warm LoFi/Indie Soundtrack "Gleichstrom/Wechselstrom" (engl. AC/DC). The second half of 2003 brings 2 CD's: the Regensburg based Data-Pop duo Herztechnik and their album "Wasserliebe" and Auf dem Weg ins Kaufhaus... - "Zwei". These are hopefully the first steps towards a long and productive future for the label.
